Hi, my name is Seth and I’ve spent much of my life chasing the perfect balance of time outdoors, time with family, time at work, and time with friends. Through this ongoing journey, I’ve come to appreciate the unexpected, unplanned, and under hyped days the most. An hour before work with friends scoring surprise waves, a late summer evening wading in the flats for trout, a walk with a cold beverage as the sunset is putting on a show. It’s sort of crazy to live for the moments you can’t predict but somehow I remember many of these days more than the ones I obsessively planned for or stressed over. Waist High, which is a term commonly used by surfers to describe “fun size” or smaller waves, is simply a manifestation of my love for the unexpected days and a celebration of the idea that things like the smallest days of surf or slowest days of fishing are sometimes the ones we remember the most.
